Born 3/8/75

Matt has been playing music since he was a child.  Starting with piano at the age of 7, he studied classical music in his northern New York hometown of Sackets Harbor.  After years of piano lessons he picked up the guitar at the age of 12.  His first guitar was a red and white sparkle Memphis (Fender imitation) Strat.  He practiced many hours learning over 250 cover songs in two years.  Soon Matt began to dive into original music and write full songs of his own.  He played consistantly with his older brother, Dave, in various other bands performing a mix of original and cover songs.  Throughout his late teens Matt began to focus on solely on original music.  He moved to Syracuse in 1993 and began performing original music to anyone who would listen.  In his junior year, he formed a group called Phaedrus with two other friends at LeMoyne College, Syracuse, NY.  They performed a mix of originals and cover songs at college parties during the fall of 1995.  Around that time, a dog named Bailey, found a guy named, Joshua Collins, who was in the business of promoting bands.  Josh came and checked out the band with the possibility of promoting them.  After jamming several original songs to Josh's approval, he mentioned that he wrote and played music also.  Josh soon joined the band in November 1995 playing keyboards and vocals.  The band performed at several Central New York clubs and college festivities throughout late 95 and early 96, performing mainly at the Orange Grove, Blue Tusk & LeMoyne Colleges spring fest "Dolphy Day."  The band continued to branch out with new musical styles through original songs and obscure cover songs.   Faedrus soon became the house band performing Monday nights at the Planet 505.  To be continued...........
